Dinner is Served has been delivering quality, wholesome meals to the wider Byron area from their tiny commercial kitchen Ballina. In order to keep up with demand, the owner Claudia, needed to find a new space where she could open a ‘Kitchen door’ style offering where people could relax with a coffee, some healthy lunch and pick up a nourishing ready made dinner to take home for the evening.

She found an opportunity to take over the perfect space to expand the commercial kitchen in a building that allowed her to set up her dream environmental kitchen. The building owner agreed to install an increased quantity of Solar panels to allow her kitchen to run completely on electricity, removing any need for gas equipment. In perfect synergy, this space was attached to a corner tenancy destined to be a Café. The amount of natural light and exposure to the street scape made it the ideal blank canvas to create her unique kitchen door experience.
A row of olive trees welcome you as you head towards the entry doors, and as you step inside, a cloud of oversized Banks cotton lanterns are suspended overhead within the double height void of the café. Intimately tucked in behind is the café counter which has been clad in a rich and playful terrazzo tile from Fibonacci stone. A pink hued concrete slab by Ceasarstone was used for the service area benchtop and is highlighted by the Lune pendant from Australian lighting designer Marz Designs in brass and vanilla bean. These finishes of quality and luxury are grounded by dusty pink walls, timber shelving and bespoke midnight blue steel shelving units.
Outside, the grounds have been planted in native trees and nestled within this are colourful Brighton chairs by Zanetti combined with customed made Bistro tables by Melbourne based furniture designer / maker Steve Edwards and shaded by navy striped market umbrellas. To add something a little more special outside, we’ve again collaborated with our friends at Five Mile Radius to create custom waste terrazzo concrete benches that they’ve matched to our interior colour palette.
The ‘Café and Pantry at North Creek’ by Dinner is Served is a playful expression of the quality and richness of the food lovingly created there.
